June 2, 2026 Downtown Committee

The Downtown Committee approved the May 5 minutes and discussed several updates including Castro Street events (music nights, concerts, makers market, tech showcase, art exhibits), the Summer of Soccer World Cup activations with watch parties and the first entertainment zone test, and the annual economic vitality strategy update showing declining vacancy and rising downtown sales tax. The committee amended and adopted its fiscal year work plan to include studying public restrooms downtown. Future agenda topics raised included downtown condo development, recycling/composting bins, and fire access on Castro Street, and the committee will recess until early September.
