E-Bike Safety

This lesson, part of Mountain View's Safe Routes to School program, educated grade 11 students and their families on e-bike safety, laws, and responsible riding. It covered the legal definition and three classes of e-bikes, key differences from regular bikes (weight, speed, stopping distance), California and local Mountain View regulations, illegal e-motos, battery safety, and readiness checklists for choosing a bike and assessing rider skills. Students are directed to take the required quiz and have parents complete a consent form, with parking-permit seekers continuing to a separate safer student driving lesson.
