July 8, 2026 Visual Arts Committee

The Visual Arts Committee received CIP public art project updates (Evelyn Park, Shoreline Boat House, train depot celebration, lobby gallery exhibitions), reviewed and recommended approving the FY2026-27 work plan with minor timeline wording changes. The bulk of the meeting was a detailed review of the draft Public Art Strategy, including community outreach results, findings, vision/mission, recommendations, and the implementation plan; committee members and the public gave extensive feedback (studio/community art space, waiving permit fees, pooled funding, a signature Mountain View art event, collaboration with other advisory bodies, and success metrics). The committee voted to recommend forwarding the strategy to city council with feedback incorporated. The meeting closed with an introduction to a proposed pilot artist selection panel procedure.
